NJEJA Comments on BPU Virtual Power Plant Energy Program Design

This month, NJEJA submitted comments to the NJBPU regarding their request for comments on the their virtual power plant (VPP) program. In our comments, we recommended a three-pillar energy justice framework which could serve as the basis for the VPP program. The three pillars are:

  • Community Distributed Energy Resource overlays to guarantee community ownership models

  • Performance-Based Regulation with Equity Metrics to support equity in VPP development

  • Binding Community Governance to support community input on decision making and development
